Green Bay Local Heroes

Shop Local would like you to join us as we salute our local heroes. We take this time to honor the Green Bay Police Department & K-9 unit, Green Bay Firefighters, and Honor Flight. These local heroes are dedicated to their community and its welfare. Below are just a few details about the valuable departments within our community, and the services they provide.

Please come out and join us during Shop Local Week to support our local heroes and thank them for their service. Donation cards will be available at all participating Shop Local businesses.

Mission Statement

We, the men and women of the Green Bay Police Department, are dedicated to providing service through a partnership with the community that builds trust, reduces crime, creates a safe environment, and enhances the quality of life in our neighborhoods.

The Green Bay Police Department has been serving and protecting the citizens of Titletown, USA since its official founding on August 27, 1857.  While we are proud of over 150 years of continuous service, we are prouder still of using innovative methods and technologies to provide the best law enforcement service possible to the citizens of Green Bay.  Please read our mission statement in the upper left hand of our page.  It is our cornerstone and the philosophy we live by.

The Green Bay Police Department is an innovative, problem oriented policing agency that is continually striving to improve the level of service we provide to our citizens. We recognize that we can be more successful when we engage the community and foster positive relationships. We rely on citizens to be our eyes and ears, reporting crimes, disorder, and nuisances that affect the overall quality of life in our city. We are proud to have numerous conduits for citizens to use to contact us, including our website and facebook page. Citizens can also submit information anonymously to Crime Stoppers athttp://www.432stop.com or by calling 432-STOP.  Thank you for visiting!

Green Bay Fire Department

The mission of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department is to protect and educate our community, show compassion to all, and continue the honored tradition and dedication of the fire service.

You can find the Green Bay Fire Fighters Tribute located on the banks of the Fox River. The engraved bricks contain the names of those fire fighters who either retired since the Tribute was dedicated in 2008 or those who have left the department for other opportunities.

Local 141 Charities
Local 141 Charities is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by the firefighters who serve the City of Green Bay, City of De Pere, and the Austin Straubel International Airport.

Local 141 Charities was founded in 2012 to be a proactive agent for good will in our communities. Helping others, especially those in need, is nothing new to the firefighters, EMTs and paramedics of IAFF Local 141. Our duties provide a unique perspective into the needs of others. Therefore, we chose to enhance our response with this new calling.

Old Glory Honor Flight

http://www.oldgloryhonorflight.org/

Our mission is to offer our local World War II and Korean War veterans a memorable, safe and rewarding tour of honor to our nation’s capital. It’s a whirlwind tour. This trip happens all in one day and is completely free of charge to the vet! It’s our small way to say ‘thank you’ for their service and sacrifices to this great country. We are also dedicated to making this trip as safe as possible. Trained volunteer ‘guardians’ are assigned to accompany every veteran. For added safety, we travel with volunteer medical professionals.

Following the lead of groups from LaCrosse and Milwaukee, the idea of forming an Honor Flight hub was introduced to Northeast Wisconsin in mid-2009. Several individuals pursuing the goal on parallel paths joined forces and the organization began to take shape. Through the hard work from the Board and other volunteers Mission I was completed on October 27, 2009, and all 95 WWII Veterans had a safe and extremely enjoyable trip.

We plan to continue this program until EVERY WWII VETERAN gets the opportunity to visit their memorial, and will proceed to offer honor flights to veterans of other armed conflicts in the future.
