A HUGE Thank you to WBAY for covering our Shop Local Week event! Read below or watch the video:

People are encouraged to shop local this week as part of a new initiative to bring people to area businesses in Green Bay, Appleton and Oshkosh.

Shop Local Week is modeled after Small Business Saturday, bringing shoppers into local stores after the big box store deals on Black Friday.

This is the first Shop Local Week in the Green Bay area. People can visit the Shop Local website or Download the App to get a passport that will be stamped by each participating business you visit.

Shoppers with the passport will be eligible for more than 100 prizes.

Apricot Lane, a new store in Bay Park Square Mall, says the initiative is helping to get their name out there in the public.

“That just helps us and shows that we are locally owned,” said Adam Verheyden, Co-owner, Apricot Lane. “Even though we’re in the mall and there’s American Eagle next door, a corporate owned business, people tend to think we’re corporate owned, just because it looks so nice with the mix of products, but we are locally owned.”

Shop Local Week runs through Saturday, August 22.
